Green Concrete
FRIENDS WITH THE ENVIRONMENT
Wherever possible, Envirocon Solutions use safe and environmentally friendly products that won’t harm the environment.
Traditionally concrete has never been an environmentally friendly material, either to make, to use, or to dispose of. To gain the raw materials to make this material, much energy and water must be used, and quarrying for sand and other aggregates causes environmental destruction and pollution.
Traditional concrete is the third ranking producer of carbon dioxide emissions during the manufacturing process. Fossil fuels and deforestation are the leading producers of greenhouse gases, but unfortunately concrete is catching up. The construction industry is using cement and concrete in increasing amounts. It is an unsustainable process and researchers have been looking for and finding green alternatives to traditional concrete.
There has been much research in this area and the concrete industry has become more driven to find and use sustainable products. This is good news for future generations.
While Envirocon Solutions is not a manufacturer of cement or concrete, we do spent our entire time fixing and creating solutions for these materials. Where possible we use safe and environmentally friendly products that won’t harm the environment.
By undertaking the use of these products, we can be confidant that where we use them we are not contaminating the area around us and the health of our workers are not compromised.
We spend considerable time talking to our suppliers about their products, how they are made and what their environmental credentials are. We don’t this because it will look great on our promotional material, we do it because it needs to be done. Concrete and cement are increasingly being used on all types of building projects. Environmental friendly concrete is not a new phenomenon, it is in fact old technology.
In fact, the Soviet Union made eco-friendly concrete in the 1950s. The University of Melbourne has worked with the University of Kiev in the Ukraine and found that eco-friendly concrete is as strong and stable as ordinary concrete.
