Swimming Pool Project
DISCOVER WHAT MAKES US BETTER
Problem
A 50metre council owned swimming pool had been constructed and when the formwork was removed it was found that it had not been vibrated correctly and it had voids and air pockets around the perimeter approximately 200mm up from the floor – wall joint.
Scope of Works
The area to be repaired was cleaned of any formwork releasing agent to enable the application of a high strength grout to fill the voids and air pockets. A flexible, cementitious membrane was then manually applied to the damaged area, bridging tape was applied and then a further 2 coats of membrane was applied over the top. This repair then allowed tiles to be applied over the top.
These straps were then installed at intervals of approximately 300mm along the cracks and epoxied in place and preventing any further movement and cracking in these areas.
As a result of the installation of the straps, the council now has an extended time line to replace the existing infrastructure.
